Get the perfect party looks for the festive season!

I always have a lovely warm feeling at this time of year. Although the run up to Christmas and New Years Eve can be a stressful time, what with getting the Christmas dinner together and sorting out presents, it’s still a very magical time!

Party perfect for the New Year!

One of the best parts of the season for me, is getting hold of the perfect party outfit. The season for family gatherings and parties, warm logs on the fire, mulled wine during Christmas and then celebrating the new year in.

If you haven’t yet bought your New Years Eve outfit then now is the time. The shops are teaming with fabulous party wear, right now and you can grab a real bargain in time for New Years Eve!

Want to look fabulous, then find some inspiration below!

When thinking of seeing the New Year in think rich deep colours in velvet, sparking sequins, glitter, lace, knits, chiffon and prints!

A good investment piece is a sequin dress. There are many styles, but if you want to bring it out year after year, look for something that is elegant and let the dress create an impact by ensuring your accessories are subtle. This is a spaghetti strap, midi dress in silver.
The shops are full of sequin and glitter dresses leading up to New Year, so it’s a great time to invest in a piece. 2021 fashion shows were full of Top end designers such as Bottega Veneta show-casing fabulous sequin dresses as highlighted here. Alternatively check out this dress from Next for style inspiration.
This gorgeous dress screams party wear and the wrap and drape style will suit many figures by creating a waistline. Add a pop of colour through red nails!

Green is such a beautiful festive colour and looks lovely in satin as well. If you feel like trying it out but don’t want to spend a fortune, check this link.here from Boohoo
Gold, copper and nudes in sequins are sure winners. So warm, making one’s complexion shine. Check this copper maxi dress from True Decadence here
Try a feather trim dress

Feathers are bang on trend whether on dresses, blazers or tops, from runway to high street!

You simply can’t go wrong with an elegant black tailored bardot, feather dress, such as the one above. A similar one is linked here from Flannels.

This type of dress can be taken out for many occasions, throughout the year. Feather items come in many shades and styles, so you can have lots of fun experimenting, such as combining a chiffon feather blouse with trendy flared sequin pants, however it’s probably worth bearing in mind that feathers are a statement so keep other accessories to a minimum.

Sequins are not for everyone though. If you want a timeless classic, think LBD. One you can wear for many occasions, not just this time of year. This bustier dress in satin and lace is very flattering. It shows off the décolleté and has a slimming affect due to the colour. Check this similar one out from Karen Millen here
If you want a dress that is a bit more covered then a lovely knit black dress, accessorised with a chain belt is a sure winner for year round wear. I find that it’s best to get a good quality, tightly knit dress, particularly if it’s body-con as it holds its shape a lot better and is more flattering. It may also be worth going up a size in body-con styles, so that the drape looks more flattering. Take a look at this similar one from Ted Baker here
Velvet has always been in fashion and has played a major role in the history of fashion from royalty to runways and the high street. It’s such a luxurious fabric and has proven to be very popular for women and men. Velvet items such as dresses and blazers can look stunning in structured or beautifully draped styles.
This lovely teal velvet dress is a classic, timeless investment and I love the three quarter sleeves and soft drape in the midriff, accentuating the waist. Velvet plays with the light and creates such a dramatic depth of colour. Green, burgundy and black dresses in velvet are forever investment pieces and are warm, yet classy. Check out this similar dress by LK Bennett here

Make an entrance in a beautiful red maxi dress! All eyes on you, with a goddess neckline and fit and flare style. A red lip and smokey eye completes this look. Red dresses look equally stunning in satin or silk too. Check out this one by Ghost here I would just accessorise simply and let the dress do all the talking!
An easy to wear printed chiffon dress for the festive season and beyond. The one above is from Reiss and can take you from office to evening drinks, simply slip on some heels and a belt and your ready to go!
